I have been longing to reveal our master bedroom for ages but have been delayed because of a major development in the story of this house… more will be revealed below, but for now, just bask in the wonder that is our light, bright and (most importantly) finished bedroom!
This room really was a blank canvas so was simple to repaint, add the new doors, skirting, cornice and ceiling lights.
Then came the fun part, decoration!
In bedrooms, texture is key and Ryan and I have found from previous rooms that we like our bedroom to be simple, calm and understated. We chose a vintage style rug from Joss and Main to add character without losing the calm, regal sense the bed exudes.
The white quilted linen cover, chunky knit throw and the vintage patina of our old chest add personality to the space.
I love the drama of the tall bed head, but it came with these huge silver tacks on the sides which were way too much for me. I wrenched them out and replaced every second one with a brass upholstery tack about half the size, allowing the bed a more subtle look.
So, behind the French doors is the ensuite and walk-in robe – a triumph in our design, we are delighted with them. I will reveal those spaces in the coming weeks, but for now, the biggest reveal is that this house is coming up for sale!
We had planned to live here for another 2-3 years but due to unforeseen circumstances, are moving back to Australia before Christmas. That means that the house reveals will come thick and fast now because we have spent less time blogging and more time doing physical labour and man, how it has paid off!
So, stay tuned for more next week!
