One Room Challenge – REVEAL – Shared Girls Room

It is Week 6 in the One Room Challenge, and you all know what that means… THE BIG REVEAL!

Yes, you have been patient, and I have been a bit harried, but here is a quick reminder of what this is all about.

I was a guest participant in a six week challenge, the idea being to tackle one room in the house and GET IT DONE. I am delighted to say that (barring the missing curtain rod) my girls shared bedroom is now complete.

Here is is a picture of how the girls room looked the day we bought the house.

And here was the moodboard.

We took a few detours along the way, and feel a few duck egg blue cushions might be arriving in the near future, but prepare to enter the finished room.

Beds Ikea, Duvet covers Canningvale, Navy cushion DKNY, sheets Ralph Lauren, Mongolian Sheepskin Hides of Excellence, Rug TJ Maxx, wallpaper Target, artwork girl’s own, tasselled throw Elle, green floor cushion Target.

Remember the dresser I picked up at the thrift store? I think it looks great in here and is a modernist contrast against the ultra-girlie Target wallpaper.

To store the excess toys, I used vintage suitcases which add a bit of whimsy, and can also be carried easily when they want to play in the garden.

The wardrobe got a bit of a make over too, with a coat of paint (Sherwin Williams ‘Steely Grey’ in satin) and new door handles sourced from AliExpress.

We also tidied up the interior, adding and Ikea Malm and lots of Ikea storage boxes.

The vintage dolls house from Australia looks amazing in its new spot.

The girls love their new room, I hope you do too.

Also, don’t forget to check out all of the other participants in the challenge – so much inspiration there!

Lovely, lovely room! I would have been thrilled to have a room like this when I was growing up. All the pieces you choose to style with look so precious. Well done!

Thank you so much! The girls love it and it is amazing what you can find when you rummage around a thrift store. The total came to well under my $1000 budget at $500 so I am delighted too!

Thank you! I was worried about so much pink and wasn’t sure if the navy would work but I feel the dresser ultimately tied everything together in the end and we couldn’t be happier with the results.

Thank you! The wallpaper really has transformed this room and I feel like the dresser has prevented it from seeming too cutesy and twee with all of that pink! The girls have given it their seal of approval, so we are all happy!

What an amazing transformation! The combination of that blush pink wallpaper with that navy dresser is outstanding. I hope your young ladies are loving this beautiful space.

Thank you so much – they were keen for all pink but I know they will grow out of it so fast, which makes the removable wallpaper perfect, and the plan is for everything else to grow with them.
